Current Location

Our insect-sized museum is currently located within the OSU Urban Arts Space in Columbus, Ohio. Founded in 2008, Urban Arts Space joins The Ohio State University with the state of Ohio and the world, functioning as an arts laboratory for faculty and artists and serving as a professional launching pad for Ohio State students. Through free public exhibitions, programs, performances, and events, Urban Arts Space offers hands-on experiences in the arts and professional development opportunities for Ohio State students and faculty, and the community. Programs range from poetry readings, crafts, and children's art activities to lectures, artist's talks, exhibitions, performances, receptions, and tours. The Museum for Insects is on display as a part of a larger exhibition called Engineering Utopia.

Curated by Kris Paulsen, this exhibition features many artists who have been leaders in artmaking, including:

The exhibition runs from May 30th, 2017 through July 15th, 2017. Open hours for the OSU Urban Arts Space are 11:00am to 6:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday (Thursdays til 8:00pm). But you can always visit our live, cricket-eye view webcam inside the Museum for Insects anytime you like.

2013 - 2014: Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachussets

The Museum for Insects was on display as a part of a larger exhibition called Beyond Human: Artist–Animal Collaborations curated by Janey Winchell. The exhibition featured many artists recognized as leaders in artmaking that rethinks ways humans interact with animals. Exhibiting artists included Julie Andreyev, Hilary Berseth, Catherine Chalmers, Emil Fiore, Mark Fischer, Ryan Hackett, Komar and Melamid, Steven Kutcher, Mary Jo McConnell, Jim Nollman, Julia Oldham, Christine Peter, Daniel Ranalli, Corinna Schnitt, William Wegman, Yukinori Yanagi, and Amy Youngs.
